This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Warcraft Orcs and Humans strategy game as well as the tenth anniversary of World of Warcraft. Today during their Warlords of Draenor Cinematic Premiere live-stream event, Blizzard announced that the Warlords of Draenor would expansion would be arriving on November 13th.

Mike Morhaim, Chris Metzen, and World of Warcraft designers Ion Hazzikostas and Brian Holinka were present for the event. This was the first time that Blizzard had done a full event for an opening cinematic.

As just a taste of the amazing things to come this morning we were shown the first chapter of Lords of War, the animated miniseries produced by Blizzard to accompany the upcoming expansion. It is styled in the same way as the six part miniseries, The Burdens of Shaohao. If you missed it you can watch the prelude below.

Upon purchasing WoW: Warlords of Draenor, each player will receive a free level 90 boost. This can be used on a new character or an old one.

Player bars have also been cleaned up to give more room to add additional features as well as eliminate some redundancies that were present.

Many things are being added in this expansion including:

The Frostfire Ridge, Talador, ShadowMoon Valley, Nagrand, Gorgrond, the Spires of Arak, and Tanaan Jungle, as well as the much anticipated Ashran PVP Zone. Ashran will include essentially world PVP and its own currency as Ashran artifact fragments that can be acquired from quests as well as looting other players upon defeat.

Bloodmaul Slag Mines, the Iron Docks, Auchindoun, Skyreach, the Grimrail Depot, The Everbloom, Shadowmoon Burial Grounds, and the Upper Blackrock Spire. The Upper Blackrock Spire is set to be released in Patch 6.0 of the current game as a level 90 dungeon so that players may gain updated and relevant gear prior to the expansion’s release on November 13th.

Chis Metzen  put it best when he said that, “Cinematics are the speartip of imagination.” It truly does show the passion and craftsmanship that Blizzard puts into their product and gives us, the players, a first look at what to expect from the imaginations of its fantastic designers, developers, writers, and artists. And we can always expect something amazing. This cinematic is no different.
