[TL;DR] October 20th to 27th 2015

Sweetie Bell TL;DR

Welcome to the first installment of our weekly videogame news rundown, TL;DR. We curate the news so you don't have to. Let us know what you think down in the doobly doo, especially if you want us to keep doing these. We intend to move to a Friday release schedule so this week there may be some overlap,

Sword Coast Legends release (Oct 20)

The newest RPG from Wizards of the Coast, Sword Coast Legends has been released. Set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons, expectations are high. Unfortunately, not all of them were met. With long cooldowns and a simplistic dungeon editor, not everyone was pleased. Many feeling that Pillars of Eternity is everything that SCL had wanted to be.

Back to the Future Day (Oct 21)

Doc Brown has a special message.

Real-world Pokemon Gym (Oct 21)

Pikachu! I choose you! Sayonas Interaction has created the first Pokemon Expo Gym in Osaka. Sporting arcade training games where players can battle and trade pokemon. Hopefully news of badges will be arriving shortly as well. After, "Everybody wants to be a master, everybody wants to show their skill."

YouTube Red announced (Oct 21)

YouTube has released word that it will now be offering a monthly subscription service that allows users to remove ads (essentially paid Adblock) and get access to premium content such as the new show from YouTube's biggest gaming star and the creators of The Walking Dead, Scare Pewdiepie. Many were concerned about what this means for content creators' revenue but there's nothing to worry too terribly much over. That revenue stream will still very much be there. Hank Green of the VlogBrothers does a great job of explaining this in detail.

Destiny King’s Fall Raid 90 Minutes Clan Forever LivE (Oct 23)

The first clan to beat the King's Fall Raid has also completed it in an hr and a half. This is a far cry different that the 7+ hr replays of teams attempting to zerg their way through it the first time not but a month ago.

Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns released (Oct 23)

Heart of Thorns has been released, and with it there is also news of a planned ESL Pro League for Guild Wars 2 with two 8-week seasons leading up to the finals and World Championship.

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility, New Dashboard Release Date (Oct 26)

We'll finally get to see the new Xbox One Windows 10 dashboard update and receive backwards compatibility on November 12th. While the list is fairly short currently of compatible games, there are at least 360 planned. Needless to say, we are very excited to get our hands on a stable release of the new OS.

Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition released (Oct 27)

Have you joined forces with the Four Horsemen (War, Strife, Fury, and Death) of the Apocalypse yet? Have you always wanted to control Death? There's never been a better time with the release of the Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Collection, remastered for the current console generation.

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 2 released (Oct 27)

Out today. Finished today. While initially seeming dissapointingly short, I strongly recommend two playthroughs if you have multiple save files available. A single playthrough of a path will only run you an hour, but with two major choices in Episode 1 you still get the expected two hours of gametime.

See you all Friday.
