[VR] IBM Japan Announces Sword Art Online: The Beginning

Sword Art Online

IBM Japan has announced Sword Art Online: The Beginning, a virtual reality project set in the universe of the SAO light novels/anime. While it isn't quite at the level of NerveGear, the gameplay is centered on full-body movement rather than the use of a controller.

Sword Art Online: The Beginning will utilize the Cognitive System developed by IBM to support human decision-making as well as SoftLayer, IBM's high performance cloud system, to produce the surrounding world.

A total of 208 applications for the alpha test March 18-20th in Tokyo are currently being accepted at the official website. We'll have to hope that IBM doesn't get a new owner named Kabaya Akihiko in the meantime.

Why are you doing this? I forgot lol
